U18: Steinkasserer takes silver, Isabel Vikoler bronze

The 17-year-old Pusterian Sofia Steinkasserer only had to admit defeat in the shot put to Sydney Giampietro from Milan, who set a new U17.84 Italian record with 18 m. This means that the winner of this year's Brixia meeting climbs to second place in the 2016 world rankings, behind the American Alyssa Wilson (18.31). Sofia Steinkasserer also improved her previous record by almost a meter to 14.36 m and surprisingly took silver, clearly ahead of Veronica Rossetti from Brescia (13.96).

Isabel Vikoler. Bronze in the 400 m hurdles, fourth in the 4x400 m relay Isabel Vikoler brought home the second South Tyrolean medal in the 400 m hurdles. The 16-year-old from SG Eisacktal also beat her previous record by 53 hundredths and took bronze in 1:01.68 minutes. This meant that she remained only two hundredths ahead of fourth-placed Lombard Nespoli, but once again achieved the U18 European Championship standard for Tbilisi. Gold went to Anna Polinari from Verona (1:00.19), silver to Alice Boasso from Piedmont (1:01.43). Vikoler then had less luck in the 4x400m relay, where she had to settle for 3th place with Alizè Bosio, Michelle Munter and her twin sister Carmen in 59.17:4 minutes. The Merano 400 m runner Michael Albrecht also came fourth. The defending champion, who was injured for a long time this year, ran a good 49.16 seconds, but was ultimately half a second short of bronze. Patrick Baù from SG Eisacktal also made it to the final in this race. He took 50.44th place in 7 seconds after beating his previous record in the preliminary run in 50.18 seconds. In fact, 16 local athletes improved their personal records in these title fights. This also applies to Angela Kier from SG Eisacktal, who came sixth in the long jump with 5.38 m.
