U20 and U18 Italian Championships: Albertoni fifth in the 60 m

The girls' relay team from SSV Bruneck, trained by Gert Crepaz and consisting of Alexa Mairhofer, Katharina Irschara, Veronika Ellecosta and Valentina Cavalleri, came third on the podium. The Bruneck women won the first time run in the U18 age group in 1:47.71. In the second time run, only the relay teams from the big city clubs Sisport Fiat Torino and Camelot Milano were faster. Albertoni even ran to the junior silver medal with the GS Valsugana relay team in 1:44.81. The woman from Bolzano was used as the third runner.

In the individual competitions, the South Tyroleans remained without any precious metal. Last year, three South Tyrolean women placed in the top four in the 60 m hurdles (U20). Defending champion Roberta Albertoni opted for the 60 m this year, Giada Busolli - third last year - didn't even start and the Italian outdoor hurdles champion Marion Kastl didn't get past 12th place this time. With her time from last year (8.88 seconds), the Terlano woman would have even won gold this year.

Roberta Albertoni once again achieved the best individual result in South Tyrol. The 18-year-old improved her best time by 7/100 to 7.76 in the semifinals. In the final she finished fifth in 7.82. But the medal ranks were out of reach. Things also went very well for Lisa Seppi and Andreas Felderer. The talented all-rounder from Lana, who is competing for SSV Brixen this year, reached 5.49 m in the long jump, missing her best distance by just one centimeter. As the third best of the 1996 vintage, Seppi took sixth place. Andreas Felderer from Kalter also achieved sixth place in the high jump with a jump of 1.89 m. There were also top ten results for Valentina Cavalleri (9th over 400 m) and Isabel Tribus (SG Eisacktal), who was in the top ten in both the 800 and 1500 m.
