U23 European Championships: Cavalleri moves into the 400m hurdles semi-finals

A total of 28 athletes took part in four timed runs on Friday. The first three in the heats and the four other fastest times made it to the second round. Cavalleri took part in the first heat. The 21-year-old from Pusteria, who is the only South Tyrolean taking part in the European Championships, took 58,73rd place in her preliminary heat in 57.27 seconds behind the Belgian Margo Van Puyvelde (57.45) and the Icelandic Arna Stefanía Gudmundsdóttir (3) and brought her into the semi-finals safely under cover. The three remaining time runs were won by the German Jackie Baumann, who was the fastest of the day in 56.96 seconds, as well as the Italians Ayomide Folorunso (57.48) and Rebecca Sartori (58.12).

Bydgoszcz is the second U58.08 European Championship for Cavalleri, who has a personal best of 23 seconds. Two years ago in Tallinn (Estonia), Irmgard Troyer's daughter ran 59,47th in 18 seconds and narrowly missed the semi-finals by 18 hundredths.

Lopez is also in the semifinals

Brayan Lopez, who competes for the Bolzano club Athletic Club 96, is also in the semi-finals over 400 m. He achieved the 47.47th time in 15 seconds.
