Missed doping tests: top US sprinter Coleman faces ban

Top US sprinter Christian Coleman (23) may have missed three doping tests in the past twelve months, they report Daily Mail and the Times . After the allegations against the vice world champion over 100 m, the US anti-doping authority USADA did not want to confirm to the French news agency AFP that there was a Coleman case. In principle, a “complete investigation” must take place before USADA makes a statement.

Three so-called “missed tests” result in a ban of between one and two years, depending on the severity. Coleman, currently number one in the world over 9,81 m with his 100 seconds and therefore actually a gold candidate for Doha, could not only miss the title fights in Qatar - but also the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Coleman has a 100 m best of 9,79 seconds, which puts him tied for seventh place on the all-time best list.

Two years ago in London, Coleman won World Championship silver behind his controversial compatriot Justin Gatlin (37), who had already been convicted of doping, and in the race he relegated Usain Bolt to third place. Six months later, Coleman improved the indoor world record in the 60 m to 6,34 seconds. Most recently, the scandal of systematic cheating in Russia shook athletics.
