Val Gardena Mountain Run: Chevrier and Desco win on the Seceda

On the 14,5 km long men's race track with a difference in altitude of 1.247, victory went to the LombardenChevrier. On the very demanding route, he left Alex Baldaccini from the GS Orobie, who had been leading for a long time, behind him by gaining the decisive lead at the key point on the steep section to the Pana gap and was able to manage this on the last, flat kilometer. Chevrier reached the finish after 1:09,16 .29 hours, with a lead of a narrow but comfortable 1 seconds over second-placed Alex Baldaccini (09,44:1). Tommaso Vaccina from the Cambiaso Risso Running Team secured third place in 10,33:4,22 hours. The best South Tyrolean was Gerd Frick from Bozen in ninth place, XNUMX minutes behind the winner. Frick hopes to be able to qualify for the World Endurance Championships with this performance.

Agnes Tschurtschenthaler 4th among women

For the women, Elisa Desco from Valtellina was the measure of all things. With a solid running performance, she was able to outdo Trentino's Antonella Confortola from the forestry guard sports group by 1,16 minutes, while Alice Gaggi from Piedmont from Runner Team 99 SBV came third, 2,33 minutes behind. The local runners also put in a very strong performance, especially Agnes Tschurtschenthaler from Sexten, who finished excellently fourth in 47,25 minutes. She missed the podium by just 36 seconds. Lana's Edeltraud Thaler, seventh in 48,38 minutes, also placed in the top ten.

Over 450 athletes tackled the steep slopes of the Seceda in perfect weather and added excitement to the 4th edition of the Val Gardena Mountain Run. In addition to the winners of the general class, the winners of the individual categories were also honored, such as Sarner's Albert Rungger from ASV Jenesien Soltnflitzer in the Over 60 age group.

The team rankings in the senior and U23 categories went to Atletica Valli Bergamasche Leffe for the men and to Atletica Trento for the women. In the juniors, however, Atletica Sandro Calvesi and Atletica Brescia won.

The second and final race for the Italian Championship will take place in Madonna di Campiglio at the beginning of August.
