Valentina Cavalleri Vice Italian Champion in the 400 m hurdles

After Julia Calliari's two U20 Italian championship titles in the 100 m sprint and Sophia Zingerle's over 5000 m, as well as the silver and bronze medals for javelin throwers Chiara Bergia and Andreas Zagler, Valentina Cavalleri, the daughter of former Olympian Irmi Trojer, also took home the title today. Silver in the 400 m hurdles in the U23 age group. The 20-year-old from San Candido, who moved from SSV Bruneck to the army sports group at the beginning of the season, stayed under a minute and came second in 59.08 seconds, behind “Ayo” Folorunso. The “Azzurra” with Nigerian roots won in an excellent 57.05 seconds. Bronze went to Irene Morelli from Lombard (1:00.39). Cavalleri was just four tenths above her personal best (58.68), which she set just a week ago in Tunis when she also came second at the U23 Mediterranean Games. Last year, the woman from Pusteria also took 23th place at the U18 European Championships.

5th place for Bruneck's 4x400 m relay team The 4x400 m relay team from SSV Bruneck also showed a strong performance today. Katharina Oberhammer, Lisa Mayr, Sophia Rader and Maria TheresaSchwingshackl took 3th place in 57.93:5 minutes, just two seconds behind the bronze medal.
