VSS village run: Successful start in Mals

The popular running series celebrated a successful comeback at the beautiful venue in Vinschgau. Giulia Franchi won the women's main race over 3000 m in 11.20 minutes. At the finish, the runner from Sarnonico was 11 seconds ahead of Petra Pircher from Lasa. Another Vinschger woman, Selina Christandl, came third in 12.04 minutes. Ludovico Palmieri, on the other hand, was unbeatable among the men. The native of Vinschger, who is stationed at the financial guard in Schlanders, held his own on the 5 km route in 16.47 minutes. Martin Mayrhofer from SG Eisacktal took second place, nine seconds behind at the finish. Konrad Schwalt, who competed for LF Laatsch/Taufers, completed the podium in 2 minutes. Many young athletes also competed in Mals: Lisa Spiess and Alan Telfser won the U18 competition, Marie Schwitzer and Alexander Mayr the U16 race. Lea Ploner and Jam Bamhackl were at the top of the U20 race. The VSS village and city running series, which has a total of six races on the program this year, will continue on Saturday, June 12th in Glurns. VSS village run: Successful start in Mals

On Sunday, after a two-year break, the start of the 41st season of the VSS village and city runs took place in Mals. A total of over 210 athletes took part; the men's victory went to Ludovico Palmieri from ASV Schlanders and the women's victory went to Giulia Franchi from Trentino.
