Wedel and Pircher win the Schenna - Taser mountain race

A total of 105 runners took on the challenge in rainy weather. The German Konstantin Wedel, who starts for LAC Quelle Fürth, completed the 5,6 kilometer long climb and the 666 meters in altitude fastest. Wedel is a 3000 m steeplechase runner and made people take notice in South Tyrol in July when he came an excellent second in the Reschenseelauf behind the Italian Emanuele Repetto. Today he crossed the finish line in 31.15 minutes and was therefore over two minutes faster than all of the competition. Second and third place went to Armin Gögele (33.33 minutes) and Roland Osele (34.01), both from the Meran sports club.

For the women, Petra Pircher from Val Venosta entered the winners' list for the first time. The experienced woman from Lasa set a new course record in a very good 36.47 minutes. Behind Pircher, Edeltraud Thaler from Lana (39.00), who has already won this race three times, took second place. Barbara Vasselai from Sarnen came third (43.02).

Wedel and Pircher win the Schenna - Taser mountain race

The fifth edition of the mountain run from Schenna to the Taser took place on Sunday. Victory in the men's race went to 24-year-old German Konstantin Wedel, while Petra Pircher from Lasa won the women's race.
