World elite ends the year again in Bolzano

At the end of the year, the old town of Bolzano will once again be all about runners. The hobby runners and the elite runners have to complete the official BOclassic circuit (1250m) through the old town, up to eight times, depending on the category. The starting field for the elite races is very well filled, and last year's winners are all there again, assures athlete manager Gianni Demadonna: “There are a lot of inquiries from athletes from Europe, but also from the USA. From Europe there are more and more inquiries from Great Britain and France. This year our goal was to get more runners from German-speaking countries, which we succeeded in doing. We want to limit African starters a little, because they are always all strong. “It is now the case that we are no longer looking for the runners, but rather the athletes’ managers contact us and want to start in Bolzano.” The elite women start at 15 p.m. and the elite men start at 15.30:XNUMX p.m.

South Tyrol helps Charity Run (12 p.m.) There is a very special starter at the South Tyrol Helps Charity Run. State Governor Arno Kompatscher has already confirmed his commitment. The motto of the South Tyrol Helps Charity Run is “running for a good cause”, anyone interested can start, regardless of whether they are individual runners, families, relay teams, with a stroller or with a dog. There is no time measurement and no list of results; each participant can run as many laps as they like on the course through the old town. The South Tyrol Helps Charity Run starts at 12 p.m. and the route must be cleared for the upcoming races at 12.40:25 p.m. Each participant receives a T-shirt that must be worn during the run. 100% of the participation fee of XNUMX euros goes to South Tyrol Helps.

BOclassic Ladurner fun run (13 p.m.) If you like something a little more ambitious, the BOclassic Ladurner fun run is in good hands. 15.000 spectators along the route cheer on the amateur runners every year. The recreational runners cover the same course as the professionals and thus have a direct comparison of the times.

Raiffeisen Youth Cup (13.50:XNUMX p.m.) With the Youth Cup, the BOclassic New Year's Eve run offers the perfect backdrop for the country's best young talents and all young people from all over Europe who love running. There are four categories: U18/U16/U14/U12.

Preparations for the BOclassic New Year's Eve run are in full swing and according to plan. OK boss Gerhard Warasin is satisfied: “One of the biggest challenges this year is dealing with the concrete blocks (“New Jersey”), which have to be removed at least for the run and then put back up. “But we are working with everyone on this matter and hope for a satisfactory solution for everyone.” This year too, the New Year's Eve run will be broadcast live on RAI television.
