Finally, bronze for Valentina Cavalleri

On Sunday, in the final 400 m hurdles race for the U23, the two South Tyroleans Valentina Cavalleri and Caren Agreiter showed off once again. The 21-year-old from San Candido, the daughter of former Olympian Irmi Trojer, won silver in the 400 m hurdles in the U23 age group last year, and today she made it onto the podium again. Cavalleri finished third in 58.65 seconds, just two hundredths behind second-place finisher Eleonora Marchiando. The title went to Rebecca Sartori in 58.11. Another Pusterian, Caren Agreiter, lined up right behind Cavalleri. The 20-year-old came fourth in 59.43 seconds.

In the U400 20 m hurdles, Isabel Vikoler took a good sixth place with a time of 1:03.33 minutes. Yesterday the athlete from SG Eisacktal clocked 1:02.90 in the preliminary run. The new Italian champion is Linda Olivieri, who was able to hold her own in a strong 58.47 seconds.

The shot putter Stefanie Gruber from Lana and the 20 m runner Sophia Zingerle from SG Eisacktal as well as Chiara's twin sister, Serena Bergia in the U5000 javelin and the 23 also narrowly missed out on a medal in the U100 age group in Florence on Friday and Saturday -m-Sprinter Kevin Giacomelli com Athletic Club 96 Bozen, who all finished fourth.

There were also four further top ten placements in the U20 category for Katharina Oberhammer from SSV Bruneck (5th over 800 m in 2:13.11 minutes), Simone Pilloni from CSS Leonardo da Vinci Bozen (6th over 3000 m obstacle in 9: 32.09 minutes) and the Salurner Isabel Eccli from the South Tyrol Team Club (7th in the long jump with 5.65 m) and in the U23 for Petra Nardelli from the South Tyrol Team Club (6th over 400 m in 56.08 seconds).
