Two new winning faces at the 19th Soltn Mountain Half Marathon

In the best external conditions with temperatures around 10° Celsius, Michael Hofer (ASV Deutschnofen) broke away from the rest of the strong field after just a few kilometers. The 24-year-old from Nova Ponente gradually increased his lead on the scenic route and won the Soltn mountain half marathon in a time of 1:17.58 hours. “I felt good before the start, but the strong field of participants gave me a lot of respect. I managed to keep my pace until the end and of course I'm overjoyed that I managed to win. The weather was ideal for running today, the route is very varied and I really like that,” said Hofer at the finish.

Last year's winner Hannes Rungger (athlete team) came in second, completing the 21,1 kilometers with around 500 meters of elevation gain in 1:19.42 hours. “I'm not dissatisfied because I divided the race well. The boys are getting stronger and stronger and today I noticed straight away that I can't keep up with Michael (Hofer, editor's note). Compliments on his strong performance – but I will attack again next year,” said the 37-year-old Sarner with a wink. Martin Griesser from the ASV Freienfeld running club completed the podium, with a time of 1:20.19 hours. Andersag doesn't let anything burn There was a start-to-finish victory for the women. Natalie Andersag (ASC Berg) triumphed in 1:32.49 hours and, like Michael Hofer, celebrated her first win of the day in the 7 Top2019 running series. “I am very satisfied. Today I didn't have a single crisis. The good results of the last few weeks can certainly be attributed to the intensive and good training. I’m already active five to six times a week,” said the 27-year-old from Kardaun. Winner among women: Natalie Andersag.

Andrea Schweigkofler (SC Meran) was happy about second place, losing a good three and a half minutes to Andersag (1:36.20). Third place went to Roberta Tarter (US Stella Alpina Carano) from Fiemme Valley. The former World Cup cross-country skier from Trentino completed the Soltn mountain half marathon in 1:39.01 hours. “After hearing nothing but good things about this race, I had to take part myself. And I have to say that my friends and acquaintances were right. The route is really great and the Soltn Mountain Half Marathon doesn't have to hide from its landscape either. My strengths certainly lie in running uphill, but I have a hard time going downhill,” says Tarter. Premstaller and Rovelli celebrate at the 10km Soltn Run The route change for the 10km Soltn Run, which celebrated its premiere last year, was also very well received. Here the start was moved directly to the Soltn, which eliminated the steep initial part. Georg Premstaller, a Sarner, triumphed over the shorter distance. The 39-year-old from ASC Lauffreunde Sarntal Raiffeisen won in 34.28 minutes. Anton Kritzinger from SG Eisacktal Raiffeisen took second place (35.31), while Alex Holtz (Athlete Team/35.51) came in third. Francesca Rovelli (ASD Laives Runners) from Eppan won the women's race in 43.40 minutes. The 35-year-old relegated local hero Manuela Reichegger (ASV Jenesien Raiffeisen Soltnflitzer/45.00) and Katja Prossliner (47.31) to the places of honor. Results Soltn mountain half marathon Men 1. Two new winning faces at the 19th Soltn Mountain Half Marathon

Sunday morning won the Soltn mountain half marathon in Jenesien. Georg Premstaller from Sarner and Francesca Ravelli from Eppan prevailed over the 10-kilometer distance. A total of around 280 athletes were registered for the renowned running event on Tschögglberg.
