Dolomiti Motoraid Challenge a huge success

As in the previous year, the event was classified as the Italian championship of the national Motoraid championship by the Italian motorcycle association FMI. The “Dolomiti Motoraid Challenge - Cronomerenda” is a race that takes place on routes that are attractive to tourists. On a wonderful late summer day, over 50 pilots took part in the “Dolomiti Motoraid Challenge - Cronomerenda”. The participants came from various regions of Italy, including athletes from Veneto, Lombardy and Trentino. The largest contingent was made up of local pilots. Almost traditionally, the event took place on the Court Square in Bolzano, where both the start and the finish were. The pilots were able to enjoy the sun all day, and the meal break at the Tomanegger restaurant at halftime was the highlight. A total of four categories were evaluated, including vintage cars and modern motorcycles. As in the previous year, this year's overall ranking was won by Deris Franzini (Modern Scooter) from the Nord Est Bikers. Franzini prevailed on his Piaggio Vespa Primavera 125 with 34 penalty points ahead of his two Milan teammates Giancarlo Giubelli (51) and Cristian Meneghelli (63). Franzini was therefore also at the top of the “vintage scooter” class. As was the case 12 months ago, Marco Vettore was crowned Motoraid Italian champion in the “Modern Motorcycles” category with 106 penalty points; Paolo Boveri (212) and Roberto De Poli (255) completed the podium. Among the vintage motorcycles, Paolo Mattioli was at the top (he also won the title last year), who was able to hold his own on his Moto Morini Tresette 175 ahead of Randolfo Danieli and Giacomo Viganò. Giancarlo Giubelli won the Modern Scooter class. In the women's category, favorite Emanuela Selva from Vespa Club Milano had the upper hand over Karin Schrott (Vespa Club Bozen). Also worth mentioning is the presence of the Bolzano Quaestor as well as that of the police, who were present along with staff and some historical and current motorcycles. The road police in particular have been supporting the motorcycle association for years with some great initiatives.
