Formula 1: Williams presents radically renewed 2018 car - Kubica as replacement driver

London (SID) The Formula 1 racing team Williams was the second team to present its racing car for the new season. One day after Haas' internet presentation, Williams unveiled the FW41 in the traditional manner to press representatives in London. The top teams Mercedes and Ferrari will present their new cars on February 22nd, four days before the start of the first test drives in Barcelona. Also present at Williams was Robert Kubica, who will be used as a test and development driver in Friday training on three Grand Prix weekends and will therefore celebrate his Formula 1 comeback seven years after his serious rally accident despite limited mobility in his right arm. The regular cockpits are occupied by 19-year-old Lance Stroll (Canada) and Russian Formula 1 rookie Sergei Sirotkin (22). The Williams FW41, which is still powered by a Mercedes engine, is the debut work of the new management duo of the technology department with the Kenyan-born Briton Paddy Lowe and the South African Dirk de Beer, who was signed by Ferrari. After a less than successful season with fifth place in the constructors' championship, the duo, as expected, turned the Williams inside out and established a new aerodynamic concept. “There are many innovations, but most of them are not visible. The team has been looking for new aerodynamic ways that will allow us to make significant progress in performance,” said Lowe, who is one of the most successful engineers in the paddock with nine driver titles for Williams, McLaren and Mercedes counts.
