Charles Leclerc makes Monza cheer

Monza is cheering! The new Ferrari star Charles Leclerc ended the Reds' dry spell at the home GP on Sunday and celebrated their first victory in Monza since Fernando Alonso in 1. For the Monegasque it was the second GP victory after Spa a week ago.

Leclerc was able to withstand the pressure from world champion Lewis Hamilton from the start, while Ferrari veteran Sebastian Vettel was overtaken by Nico Hülkenberg in the Renault on the first lap. Vettel soon overtook his compatriot and took fourth place behind Valtteri Bottas. On the 1th lap Vettel spun in the Ascari variant, while driving back onto the track the German Lance Stroll shot off the Racing Point and damaged his front wing. Stroll spun and pushed Pierre Gasly out of bounds as he drove back onto the track. Vettel had to change the nose of his car and was given a 4-second stop-and-go penalty, while Stroll got away with a drive-through penalty.

Hamilton constantly complained about the lack of power in his Mercedes, when Leclerc was attacked the Brit had to take the emergency exit and with around 10 laps to go Hamilton shot offside after the start-finish straight and Bottas passed his teammate.

While Vettel did not make it into the points in 13th place and was overtaken by winner Leclerc in the World Championship standings, World Championship leader Hamilton secured at least the additional point for the fastest race lap in third place.

Charles Leclerc makes Monza cheer

Ferrari youngster Charles Leclerc celebrated a lights-to-flag victory at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. The Pole man won, Hamilton and Vettel made mistakes.
