Formula 1: Perez initially in quarantine after an “unclear” corona test

Silverstone (SID) Formula 1 is threatened with its first prominent corona case: Racing Point driver Sergio Perez was unable to take part in the obligatory press round before the British Grand Prix on Thursday due to an “unclear” test result. Another test will now be carried out on the Mexican, so he will go into quarantine until further notice and will stay away from the Silverstone track. The motorsport premier class started its season at the beginning of July with strict hygiene and infection protection measures. The number of people in the paddock was reduced to a minimum. In addition, during the race weekends, strict care should be taken to ensure that the respective participants do not leave their “bubble” so that as few people as possible have to be sent into quarantine even in the event of positive cases. More than 4000 tests per week are carried out on drivers, team members and other personnel around the races. There were no positive results during the first two races of the season in Spielberg. The first two corona cases subsequently occurred in the week of the Hungarian race, but did not affect any of the main actors. Perez recently made the headlines involuntarily, mainly because of his contract situation: Racing Point could replace him next year with Sebastian Vettel, who is leaving Ferrari after the end of the season.
