Things are tight at the top of the World Cup between defending champion Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, which gives fans hope for a long World Cup duel between the top stars. The feeling of finally fighting on an equal footing with Mercedes and Hamilton for pole position and first place in the race enables him and his team to think “differently,” said the Dutchman. “We’ve really learned a lot over the years, I’m really looking forward to what’s to come,” assured the 23-year-old. World Championship leader Hamilton, however, knows the feeling of victory in Portimão. Last year he surpassed Michael Schumacher's record with his 92nd Grand Prix success. “We expect another close fight with Red Bull, but McLaren and Ferrari could also play a role,” said Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff. Behind the big favorites, Ferrari is currently fighting to keep up after a stuttering start to the season. Leclerc and Sainz definitely want to be on the podium in Portugal.
