Formula 1 is visiting Mugello for the first time

As the FIA announced on Friday, for the first time ever, the Tuscan Grand Prix in Mugello on September 13th and the Russian Grand Prix in the Olympic city of Sochi on September 27th were included in the World Cup calendar, which was reduced due to the corona crisis. The track in Mugello is owned by Ferrari and is regularly used as a test track by the Scuderia. It is an integral part of the MotoGP calendar. After the Formula 1 season could only start last Sunday in Spielberg/Austria due to the pandemic, the FIA's first goal was to hold eight Grand Prix. This would give the season World Cup status. This is currently considered safe. FIA wants to have at least 15 races After the second race, also in Spielberg, next Sunday, the entourage will move on to the Hungaroring just outside Budapest (July 19th). After a week's break, the race will take place in Silverstone, Great Britain, on the first and second weekend in August. This is followed by the races in Barcelona (August 16th), Spa-Francorchamps (August 30th) and Monza (September 6th). Mugello and Sochi expand the program. The FIA wants under all circumstances to have at least 15 races this season in order to prevent a reduction in TV revenue. As the umbrella organization announced, they wanted to have “15 to 18” races.
