A totally crazy race in Baku

The race on the street circuit on the Caspian Sea came to an unexpected end. Until four laps before the end, Max Verstappen was driving towards an unchallenged victory. But then the Dutchman crashed into the guardrail at extremely high speed due to a burst tire. Luckily he was uninjured, but the victory was lost - and so was the championship lead, or so all the fans thought at the time. After the accident, the race was interrupted for around half an hour before it restarted. In first place was Sergio Perez, next to him Lewis Hamilton, who is only four points behind Verstappen in the World Cup standings. Hamilton makes a big mistake So it was a penalty for the Brit, because he just had to hold his position to take the lead again in the standings and thus give Verstappen a blow in the neck. But then the unbelievable thing happened: after the start, the seven-time world champion made a major braking mistake and took himself out of the race.

Sergio Perez therefore drove safely to victory and Sebastian Vettel in second place. This was the German's 2nd place on the podium, his first with Aston Martin and his best result since October 122.
