“He’s a chatterbox”: Mega trouble in Formula 1

As is well known, Wolff and Horner do not have the best relationship with each other. On the sidelines of the Baku weekend, the sparks were once again flying.

This was preceded by statements from Horner on Friday, who, with a view to the protest announced by Mercedes against the Flexiwings from Red Bull and other teams, said: “If I were Toto, I would keep my mouth shut.” Horner was referring to the front wing of the Silver Arrows which, in Horner's opinion, also moves too much. “He’s just a chatterbox who likes to see himself in the camera.” Toto Wolff on Christian Horner Wolff's counterattack followed on Saturday: “Christian is simply a chatterbox who likes to see himself in the camera. I think that when you're at the top of the World Cup, you should be humble and not say things like that. What is it actually about? Red Bull's rear wing is supposed to bend to the pressure of the air and bend backwards at high speeds on the straights. The wing becomes flatter, offers less air resistance and thus enables higher speeds.

There have been a number of clashes between Wolff and Horner in the past. The two will certainly no longer be great friends. This seems clear. But it is also clear that Formula 1 is more exciting this season than it has been for a long time. The bosses also ensure this, adding additional explosiveness. There have been several crashes this year Red Bull's motorsport advisor Dr. Helmut Marko repeatedly teased Mercedes this year. Wolff then referred to Marko as “Dr. Grumpy” (grumpy means grumpy or grumpy; Anm.d.Red. ), which is why he said when it came to additional motivation for Marko: “He is our strongest weapon at Red Bull!”

In addition to the World Cup fight between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, the Zoff Red Bull vs. Mercedes was triggered by Ben Hodgkinson's move to the Austrians. He worked for Mercedes as an important engineer for years and was poached by Red Bull. In Barcelona, Red Bull even announced the signing of five additional engineers from the Silver Arrows. Naturally, Mercedes didn't like this. The last word has certainly not yet been spoken in the dispute between Red Bull and Mercedes.
