Ferrari crash: Even the competition is worried

FERRARI: If you want to know what status Ferrari currently has in Formula 1, you have to listen to the competition. When the other team bosses talk about this fallen giant, different things come out. Worry because the racing team is too important for the appeal of the entire Formula 1 to go under like this. But also anger because Ferrari was responsible for the crash itself - and still doesn't own up to it. It is suspected that Maranello was caught cheating on engines by the world association last season. This was never officially confirmed. Performances like those in Spa hardly allow for any other conclusion: on a track where drive is particularly important, the racing teams with Ferrari engines suddenly found themselves at the back of the field. By the way, pity also sounds when others talk about Ferrari - but only with the drivers. Sebastian Vettel can probably be really happy that he is leaving the team in the winter.

LEWIS HAMILTON: The world champion has entered the home straight, only two wins away from Schumacher's record. And in the last few meters Hamilton remains almost unmolested. And that's why there's a lot to suggest that the Englishman is taking his final steps in Ferrari land of all places: If he also wins in Monza and Mugello in the next two weeks, then he'll have 91 victories to his name. This brand that Michael Schumacher once established with the Scuderia once seemed made to last forever. Now it will fall soon.

MAX STAGES: What duels with Hamilton could the Dutchman afford if only his Red Bull were a little faster. In Spa it became obvious once again: Mercedes drove away from the field, the only one who could keep up was Verstappen in the inferior car. His teammate Alex Albon is regularly more than half a second slower, which shows Verstappen's class. And so he had “a boring race” in Spa as best of the rest, as he said. RENAULT: The French have received a lot of ridicule since their comeback as a factory team in 2016, and they have done a lot for it. Fourth and fifth places for Daniel Ricciardo (fastest lap) and Esteban Ocon were the best results of the season and finally fit the racing team's self-image.
