Ferrari has a new team boss

As the Scuderia announced on Tuesday morning, Frederic Vasseur will be taking over the reins in Maranello with immediate effect. The 54-year-old Frenchman has been team boss of Sauber, which was later renamed Alfa Romeo, since 2017. The racing team works closely with Ferrari and sources its engines from Scuderia, among other things. That's why his order comes as no surprise. In the last few weeks he has repeatedly been considered the number 1 candidate. Ferrari last won the drivers' title in 2007 thanks to Kimi Räikkönen, and the last time they won the constructors' championship in 2008. Last season, Charles Leclerc came second in the World Championship behind Max Verstappen in the Red Bull. The Monegasque was 46 points ahead of the Dutchman after three races. However, driving errors, strategy misfires and technical damage subsequently cost us an even better performance. That also cost Binotto his job. Just a few hours earlier, Alfa Romeo had announced that Vasseur was leaving the racing team. This year, Vasseur led the team to sixth place, its best performance since 2012. Now he is taking over the mammoth task at Ferrari. Vasseur is supposed to lead the Scuderia to the long-awaited world title. Vasseur will take up his position at Ferrari on January 9th. He has been in motorsport for more than 25 years and was also a team boss at Renault.
