The 23-year-old Gasly from the Toro Rosso racing team also wrote about his French compatriot, who is one year younger: “You pushed me on and off the track.” Hubert made ex-Red Bull driver Gasly a better person overall. “I will continue to chase the dream we both had since we were little. I miss you very much, my friend.” Gasly also posted many private photos from their shared past.

Hubert died on Saturday after a serious crash on the racetrack in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, in a race in the Formula 2 junior series. Among other things, he was close friends with the Formula 1 drivers Gasly and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who died just a day later started again at the Belgian Grand Prix. “We started racing together, became friends,” wrote Gasly: “You were such a humble boy, incredibly fast and a hard worker. It was great growing up with you.”
