Formula 1 ace rages against his team

After crossing the finish line, Nico Hülkenberg raged against his team on the pit radio and blamed Renault's strategy. Above all, the fact that he wasn't allowed to make a pit stop earlier infuriated the German. “It's hard for me to understand why we couldn't stop earlier. That’s what cost us this race. I was honestly struggling. I don't want to play games or talk bullshit. But you just have to believe me sometimes! Just fucking believe,” said Hülkenberg on the radio.

Ricciardo was preferred “My tires were at 140 ('hundred-fucking-forty'), and you're still saying: 'No, no, everything's fine, let's leave him outside, everything's fine',” added the German. Race engineer Mark Slade tried to calm his protégé, but was unsuccessful.

Why was Hülkenberg so upset? He already complained about problems with the tires on lap 9. However, on lap 12, Renault refused to allow Hülkenberg to pit twice because Ricciardo came into the pits on that same lap. Team boss Cyril Abiteboul defended the decision to favor Ricciardo: “He (Hülkenberg, editor's note) was behind Daniel in qualifying, he was behind Daniel on the first lap - but he still wanted to change tires earlier. It’s only fair that he had to get in line after Daniel.”
