Binotto's exit from Ferrari is apparently fixed

According to consistent media reports, Ferrari is separating from Formula 1 team boss Mattia Binotto. Journal of Sport , Corriere della Sera and Sky Sports in Italy reported on Friday about the impending farewell to the 53-year-old. An official statement from Ferrari was initially not available. There was recently speculation about a separation of the Scuderia from Binotto around the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

When asked a few days ago whether he would still be team boss at Ferrari in 2023, Binotto replied: “It's not up to me to decide, but I'm pretty relaxed. The reason I'm relaxed is because I always have open, honest and constructive conversations with my bosses and my chairman." Binotto's successor is said to be Frederic Vasseur. The 54-year-old Frenchman has been team boss of Sauber, which was later renamed Alfa Romeo, since 2017. The racing team works closely with Ferrari.

Binotto joined Scuderia in 1995 and served as an engine engineer for Michael Schumacher during his Ferrari era. The Swiss was later promoted to technical director before replacing Maurizio Arrivabene as team boss at the beginning of 2019 after a power struggle. Ferrari has been waiting for great successes for years Ferrari last won the drivers' title in 2007 thanks to Kimi Räikkönen, and the last time they won the constructors' championship in 2008.
