Formula 1 race in Italy's motorcycle stronghold?

According to the trade magazine Car, engine and sport Formula 1 wants to hold two more Grands Prix in Europe in September. There are supposedly three candidates for this: Hockenheim, Imola and Mugello. The Formula 1 bosses came to this conclusion because overseas races are difficult to plan due to the different travel regulations. However, the traditional German course has the best chance at the moment, as the preliminary European final is already taking place in the Italian city of Monza on September 6th. Hockenheim has always expressed its fundamental willingness to host a Formula 1 race without any financial risk of its own. The course was missing from the calendar for this year. Mugello is controversial among pilots While Imola, where the San Marino Grand Prix was held for years, is aiming for a return to the Formula 1 calendar, it would be an absolute first for Mugello. The motorcycle stars around Valentino Rossi usually attract thousands of spectators to the Apennines every year. The circuit in northern Tuscany could give the Formula 1 stars a thrill with its fast daring curves and interesting topography with lots of hills. In the past, however, this was precisely one of the reasons why Mugellos was avoided as a test track by some pilots. The 5,425 kilometer long track is owned by Ferrari, which could be an advantage for the possible hosting of a Grand Prix. The premier class of motorsport wants to hold at least 15 more races this year in order to collect the full TV money. The start, which was delayed due to the corona crisis, is scheduled for July 5th with the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg. A week later, the Styrian Grand Prix, the second World Championship round, will also take place at the Red Bull Ring.
