Hamilton plunges Ferrari into the valley of tears

The Mercedes frontman prevailed in Monza ahead of Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen and his teammate Valtteri Bottas. Ferrari star Sebastian Vettel came 4th. A bitter defeat for Ferrari, after all their first victory at their home race in eight years was up in the air. But despite the double poles of Räikkönen and Vettel, the victory came to nothing.

One of the decisive scenes of the race took place on the first lap when there was a collision between the two championship rivals Hamilton and Vettel. Vettel was thrown back, while Hamilton laid the foundation for eventual victory.

In the World Championship standings, Hamilton, who celebrated his sixth win of the season, the 68th of his career and the fifth in Monza, extended his lead over Vettel to 30 points. Hamilton leads with 256 points ahead of Vettel with 226. The next race takes place on September 16th in Singapore.
