Hungarian King Hamilton wins confidently

The British Mercedes driver prevailed on Sunday at the Hungaroring ahead of Max Verstappen (NED) in the Red Bull and his teammate Valtteri Bottas (FIN). The six-time Formula 1 world champion also took the championship lead ahead of Bottas.

The lead of Mercedes and Hamilton in particular was even greater than in Spielberg: only the first four in the classification - Canadian Lance Stroll came 4th in Racing Point - were on the same lap. Alexander Albon (THA) in the second Red Bull finished 5th. Sebastian Vettel took 6th place in the Ferrari, his teammate Charles Leclerc didn't get past 11th place.

With his 8th victory at the Hungaroring, Hamilton equalized Michael Schumacher's record of successes on a track. The record world champion once achieved eight victories at the French Grand Prix in Magny Cours.

With his 86th Grand Prix success, Hamilton also took the championship lead. The Briton is now five points ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas. The Formula 2 World Championship season continues in England in two weeks. Hamilton has two home races ahead of him at Silverstone.
