Close, but still: Hamilton intercepts Verstappen

At the front, pole position man Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton fought a thrilling duel. At first Valtteri Bottas was able to keep up, but a failed tire change robbed the Finn of any chance of victory. The rest of the field competed for the positions behind the podium. Verstappen had already overtaken Hamilton, but because everything wasn't completely clean, the Dutchman had to let the world champion pass again. In the end, Hamilton won very narrowly ahead of Verstappen - so everything was the same. However, only Hamilton was satisfied. Verstappen (2nd) struggled with the team's decision to let the Englishman pass again. He would have liked to be the first to cross the finish line and would have preferred to accept a penalty. And Bottas didn't agree with his team's strategy - the Scandinavian would have liked to drive more aggressively. Ferrari didn't experience a debacle after the horror show in the previous season, but it didn't make much progress in the race either. Charles Leclerc started the race from fourth place on the grid, but lost two places by the checkered flag. Carlos Sainz also scored a few points in eighth place.
