“Happy Birthday, Dad,” began his message via social media, complete with a heart. The 22-year-old son of the record world champion posted a photo that shows him in a racing suit, holding Mick as a little boy in his arms. “Days like these were important to my growing passion for motorsport and they continue to influence me to this day,” Mick wrote on Monday. He has been driving in Formula 1 himself for a year and wants to continue racing with the American Haas team in the coming season. Addressing his father Michael, who won the world championship seven times and became an icon of the racing series, Mick continued: “I am grateful for all the experiences with you and I look forward to having new ones in the future.” Michael Schumacher ended his career after a three-year comeback in a Mercedes after the 2012 season. In December 2013, the Rhineland native had a serious accident while skiing in the French Alps. He continues to recover from the severe traumatic brain injury that he suffered in a fall on a rock, isolated from the public and surrounded by his family.
