Without a speed limit into Formula 1 chaos

Actually, the name should say it all. Formula 1. So the best of the best. More is not possible. A great product, market-determining, electrifying. Motto: Must have.

The longing-quenchers are on the road and are allowed to do what we want: drive as fast as we possibly can, while we diligently activate the cruise control at the prescribed speed of 130 km/h in order to avoid the famous traffic ticket. On country roads it is even more difficult because the speed constantly changes from 80 km/h to only 70 km/h and then comes a town. Take your foot off the gas again. In between you can tickle the engine a little again. That's why, if we want to, we get teary-eyed when we see these Formula 1 cars racing around the corners on their racetracks at speeds that are unimaginable for us normal people. They even perform in cities like Singapore, Sochi and of course Monte Carlo. But do we really want to see this as a necessity now? Because what we were offered last season was basically just pure chaos. Exciting races were mostly absent. On the other hand, it was always possible to laugh out loud, like now almost at the end of the season, when not even the renewed world champion Max Verstappen knew that he was once again the fastest in terms of points. Even his partner said that they didn't understand it all and the quick-witted Max asked after what was practically the second award ceremony whether it was really the case that he had already secured the title. Chaos in every round Formula 1 is no longer a role model. And it wasn't just the race in Japan that made this clear, when no one had any perspective anymore: the drivers didn't, because in heavy rain they had to feel like they were in a car wash. The officials didn't, because they discovered strange rules in some drawer and interpreted them as they saw fit. Everything was right to determine that this program is no longer number one. It was once again a highlight in an unparalleled series of mishaps.

A well-known Italian company that has a galloping horse on its logo actually forgot a tire in the workshop when changing a tire, which is of course incredibly important (please remember, it will soon be winter). A young driver with a famous name regularly dismantled his cars during training. Then again in the race. A former world champion from Germany drove neatly and obediently, only to announce that he could no longer identify with everything he was doing. He will stop. Everything has long been more important than always driving in circles. Teams that always add a shot of fizzybrew to the petrol tank don't care about the financial limits that supposedly exist.

In Suzuka, a recovery crane even competed with a racing car and it is basically only a miracle that no catastrophic accident occurred. Formula 1 has lost its reputation this season, which was also characterized by a schedule that rushed the teams from one continent to another almost non-stop. Sustainability is a foreign word in this profession, which is nothing more than a traveling circus. Controlled television images And anyone who thinks that they will always be well informed on television and can follow just as well how a race is going should know that all the images that are shown are controlled by those responsible at Formula 1. There can no longer be any talk of free reporting. At least the Formula 1 makers are capable of learning and will be sending their broadcasts in the future into the niche of pay television, which is another daring maneuver in view of the energy prices that continue to rise almost uncontrollably. Fewer and fewer people will be watching on TV because money for the luxury of additional programs is no longer as easy as it used to be. Only the so-called local races will be free to air. So Monza for the Italians, Zandvoort for the Dutch. Germany is left empty-handed because there are no races in the country that gives the car top priority. After all, Formula 1 still has a lot of appeal locally, as the saying goes. The spectator stands were mostly full. Even if you see little and experience little, the feeling of being able to watch the raging madness on the verge of madness is still a fascinating experience. At least there still seems to be enough traction internally, as Audi and Porsche now want to do their laps without speed limits in the future, with the Zuffenhausen sports car manufacturer in particular taking a risk, as it was recently listed quite spectacularly on the stock exchange. A few major defeats could certainly result in unpopular reactions.

The circus will start with even more teams in 2023. It has long been enough for itself because there is still enough money flowing into the coffers of the owners from the USA (Liberty Media Corporation). You show yourself three more times. In the USA, in Mexico and at the season finale in Brazil. As long as the business model appears to be working, its continued existence should be assured. A season in which hardly a fiddle has been missed in so-called Formula 1 doesn't change that.
