Ricciardo takes pole in Monte Carlo – disaster for Verstappen

Ricciardo was fastest in qualifying for the Formula 1 race in Monte Carlo on Saturday ahead of Ferrari man Sebastian Vettel. The second Red Bull driver Max Verstappen demolished his car in the third free practice session (see video below). He will start from the back of the field in the race on Sunday (15.10:1 p.m./live ORF2/RTL/SRFXNUMX). After numerous accidents and controversial maneuvers, the critical voices against the young Dutchman are now becoming louder again.

Third starting position went to championship leader Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes. It is Red Bull's first pole position since Monaco 2016, and Ricciardo was in first place then too. The 28-year-old is now at the top for only the second time in his career. Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) will start from fourth position on Sunday, while Vallteri Bottas (Mercedes) will start the race in fifth place.
