Serious suspicion of fraud shakes Formula 1

After the Japanese Grand Prix, the Racing Point team submitted a 12-page indictment to the world governing body FIA. The document makes serious allegations against the Renault team. The reason: The French team is said to have used an illegal braking system and thus gained an advantage.

More precisely: Renault is said to have installed an automatic brake balance system in its cars. This is intended to regulate the balance depending on the slope position. This is strictly prohibited as drivers are only allowed to adjust the brake balance manually using their steering wheel. In other words: Racing Point accuses Renault of using an illegal car.

Drastic penalties threaten Racing Point is said to have received the tip from a former Renault employee. In the next few days, the FIA will have to clarify whether the accusation against Renault is justified. On the Sunday after the race, various parts of the Renault cars, including the steering wheels, were confiscated.

If the allegations turn out to be true, the French racing team could face exclusion from the race in Japan. It would also have to be clarified whether Renault had also cheated illegally in the previous races. In this case, an exclusion from the World Cup would no longer be a utopia.

At the race in Japan, the two Renault drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hülkenberg finished in strong positions 15 and 16 after a catastrophic qualifying (places 6 and 10).
