Confident: Hamilton also wins in Spain

The British Mercedes driver relegated Max Verstappen to second place in the Red Bull at the Spanish Grand Prix, thereby extending his championship lead and celebrating his 88th career victory. Bottas is completely different: The 30-year-old Finn, who was unable to use pole to win a year ago, was overtaken by Verstappen and also Lance Stroll from Racing Point. The Mercedes duo was blown up, even if Bottas was initially able to move back to third place. Good for Verstappen, who was able to immortalize himself as Formula 1's youngest Grand Prix winner four years ago in Spain.

Verstappen also remained in sight, but the 22-year-old Dutchman was not fooled. Hamilton was driving “super slowly” at the front, he radioed to his pit box. When the Brit turned up the pace a bit, the lead promptly grew to over five seconds. The circuit once again lived up to its reputation as a race track on which it is very difficult to overtake. There is no action on the track.
