Steiner on Mazepin: “Don’t drive so aggressively”

The South Tyrolean also admitted that the American racing team has to solve the problem between and with the two young Formula 1 drivers.

Most recently in Zandvoort last weekend Mazepin Schumacher almost hits the pit wall pushed when he tried to overtake the Russian. “I want to understand where their line is and then set our line,” said Steiner before the Italian Grand Prix this Sunday (15 p.m.). With regard to Mazepin, who has been known as a very bold driver since he joined Formula 1 this year, Steiner added: “You can never give up. We have to find a way to stop him from driving so aggressively.” Mazepin father as major sponsor Mazepin's very rich father is one of the important financiers of the racing team. His son was not able to impress in terms of sport this year and instead caused a lack of understanding among other pilots with daring and risky maneuvers.

Regarding the duel between Schumacher and Mazepin, who are both 22 years old, Steiner added: “I don’t think it’s anything personal, it’s the circumstances. They only fight against themselves, not against anyone else.” But he doesn’t want to tell either of them that whoever is in front in the first corner stays in front. “That’s not productive. It’s about showing what hard but clean racing is,” said Steiner.
