The FIA then issued technical directives to turn possible tricks into official rule violations. Following the Grand Prix in Sao Paulo, the association confiscated, among other things, the Ferrari gasoline system in order to examine it in detail. Towards the end of last year, Ferrari was suddenly slower again, and the Scuderia also lacked speed on the straights during the test drives in Barcelona over the past few days. It is therefore quite possible that Ferrari had to change its engine concept at short notice and is therefore entering the season opener in Melbourne with a major, albeit self-inflicted, disadvantage.
