Verstappen and the celebrities put on a big Miami show

World champion Max Verstappen has immortalized himself in the history books as the first winner of the new Formula 1 spectacle in Miami. Under the Florida sun on Sunday, the Red Bull driver defeated his title rival Charles Leclerc in a Ferrari in a tough duel in the final laps and further reduced the gap in the championship standings with his third victory in the fifth race of the season. Right at the start, Verstappen grabbed the second-placed Ferrari man Sainz and went after Leclerc. He couldn't maintain the lead for long. Leclerc's tires quickly deteriorated and Verstappen passed almost effortlessly on lap nine. The Dutchman quickly gained a small cushion that he would not relinquish until the end.

Record champion Hamilton once again had no chance in the fight for the top positions. The Mercedes driver caused a stir, especially with the dispute over the ban on jewelry in the cockpit, which the new German racing director Niels Wittich wants to enforce more rigorously in the future.
