Verstappen extends long-term contract with Red Bull

The new contract is now valid until the end of the 2023 season. The Austrian-British racing team announced this on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Dutchman's original contract, who has been driving for Red Bull since 2016, would have expired at the end of the year. In 2019, when Verstappen finished third in the World Championship, he left both Ferraris behind him.

“Red Bull firmly believes in me and gave me the opportunity to get into Formula 1. I've always been grateful to them for that," Verstappen said: "Over the years, the team and I have grown closer and closer together."

The brewery racing team was happy about the Verstappen coup. “It is fantastic news for our team that we have extended Max’s contract and he will stay with us until at least the end of the 2023 season,” said team boss Christian Horner.
