Vettel a mentor for Mick Schumacher

“I think what my dad was to Sebastian, Sebastian is to me. Someone who is close to you and with whom I can talk about motorsport,” said the Formula 2 driver in an interview with motorsport-magazin.com.

Ferrari star Vettel (32) is someone who “has a few more years in the sport under his belt. Every exchange of words with him helps,” explained Michael Schumacher’s 20-year-old son. The Formula 1 record champion (50) in turn supported the young Vettel from Heppenheim during their time together in the premier motorsport class.

Funding from Ferrari Mick Schumacher has points of contact with Vettel, not least because of his support from the Ferrari driver academy, which the Prema driver has been a member of since the beginning of the year. The 3 Formula 2018 European Champion explained that the decision to join the Ferrari Driver Academy was extremely easy for him: “I grew up here and, with the exception of one season, I always drove for Italian teams. The passion they have for motorsport is very nice. At Ferrari you notice that even more.”

Mick Schumacher's relationship with Ferrari began, so to speak, with his birth in 1999. His father Michael had already been driving for Scuderia in Formula 1 for three years, winning the world championship with the Reds from 2000 to 2004. After his first resignation in 2006, Schumacher incorporated his know-how into the series development of the luxury sports car manufacturer - something that still resonates for Mick Schumacher today: “I feel my father's DNA in every Ferrari. That makes me proud."
