The 73-year-old Frenchman, long-time team boss of record world champion Michael Schumacher at Ferrari, explained: “The drivers are the first to insist on compliance with all the rules. Vettel, who was in the lead at the seventh World Championship round in Montreal a week ago, slipped into the grass after a driving error in the 47th of 70 laps and when he returned to the track he almost pushed the subsequent world champion Lewis Hamilton (Great Britain) into the wall in the Mercedes . The stewards gave Vettel a five-second time penalty during the race. The German crossed the finish line just ahead of Hamilton, but had to hand over victory to Hamilton.

However, according to Article 14.1.1 of the FIA's sporting regulations, the Scuderia still has the chance to persuade the race stewards to reassess the situation if new evidence is presented. Ferrari has 14 days after the end of the race to do this, i.e. until the French Grand Prix next Sunday (15.10:XNUMX p.m.).
