Scandal driver Fenati never wants to race again: “Too much injustice”

Rome (SID) The scandalous Italian pilot Romano Fenati received death threats after his life-threatening action at the San Marino Grand Prix and never wants to race motorcycles again. "Motorsport is no longer my world. There is too much injustice," complained the 22-year-old in the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica. He announced that in the future he would work in his family's hardware store in Ascoli, central Italy. On Tuesday afternoon, the Italian Federation (FMI) revoked his racing license and suspended him from all sporting activities. Disciplinary proceedings were also initiated against him. At a hearing on September 14th, Fenati will have the opportunity to defend himself in court. On Sunday, Fenati grabbed the front brake of his compatriot Stefano Manzi during the Moto2 race in Misano while overtaking at over 200 km/h. He was then banned for two World Championship races, his current team (Marinelli Snipers) kicked him out, and his contract for 2019 with Forward Racing was terminated. Fenati apologized for his behavior but made allegations against Manzi. "He attacked me three times, he could have killed me," Fenati said. Manzi (19) also received a penalty from the FIM motorcycle world association and will be moved back six starting positions in the next race. “My goal was always to win on the race track. However, I realized that no one was interested in me and my suffering,” complained Fenati, taking on the role of victim. It is therefore better to “separate yourself from motorsport forever”. Because of his problems controlling anger, he worked with a mental trainer, but his instincts “betrayed” him at the weekend. Because of the threats, Fenati had to close his Facebook and Instagram accounts: “This wave of hatred against me is not normal.”
