South Tyrol's motocrossers shine

For the first time ever, more South Tyrolean athletes than those from Trentino were registered for the race, proof of the greatly increased interest in motorsport in South Tyrol. The local motocrossers were able to achieve correspondingly strong results. Jakob Gampenrieder from Merano won the 65 Debuttanti class on his Husqvarna. Third place also went to a South Tyrolean pilot, Martin Domanegg. Maximilian Rabensteiner from TT Südtirol was at the top of the 85 Junior. Teammate Michael Rabensteiner was able to prevail in the 125 junior category. Manuel Santi, also from TTS, was in a class of his own in the Challenge MX2. Fabian Succi from Brixen won the Challenge MX1, ahead of his teammate Christian Niederstätter. The duel in Meran in the Expert MX2 class was also exciting, where Moritz Flarer was able to hold his own against Mathias Pfattner. Claudia Schwarz was once again unbeatable among the women, Sandra Herbst from TTS took second place. Serial winner Norbert Lantschner (Master Open) from MC Evergreen continued his successful run in Storo, while Robert Perkmann from Meran came third. Matteo Brusinelli from MC MSL won the 125 Senior, Andreas Gampenrieder (Veteran Open, MC Meran) secured the tenth South Tyrolean victory. Ten other South Tyroleans made it onto the podium. The two Meraners Gabriel Huber (65 Cadetti) and Massimiliano Rizzardi (Elite/Fast MX2) as well as Gerhard Mur (Expert MX1/TTS) won silver in their categories. Third place went to Lorenz Vill (85 Junior), Tobias Zelger (Rider MX2, both TTS), Tobias Tscholl (Challenge MX2, MAC Brixen), the two Merano residents Maximilian Pichler (Expert MX1) and Georg Falser (Elite/Fast MX2) as well as the people from Neumarkt Martin Niedermair (Superveteran Open) and Martin Sanin (Veteran Open).

At the weekend, Storo was the venue for the first round of the Trentino-South Tyrol Regional Motocross Championship. The local pilots once again did well and were able to celebrate ten class victories.
