Andrian Target Team loses at the green table

Even before the start, the South Tyrolean racing team knew that the “TCR Europe” championship race would be difficult. Affected by what was perceived as an unfair classification of the BoP (Balance of Performance), it was clear from the start that there would be little chance of winning. The BoP classification is a regulation in motorsport. Vehicles that are classified higher are “slowed down” somewhat by handicaps, for example through additional weights, the height of the vehicle, or through a reduction in performance.

In the qualifying race, Dusan Borkovic took 6th place, Kris Richard and Reece Barr came 9th and 10th. In the first race on Saturday, Borkovic came in a not so bad 1th place, but due to the BoP a podium place was absolute impossible. Borkovic then even spoke of a possible withdrawal from the championship. Kris Richard ended up in 4th place. Reece Barr was eliminated after contact.

Victory and punishment In the second race, things got tough: Kris Richard drove the race of his life, despite the Bop disadvantages, he defended first place in a spectacular way and triumphantly crossed the finish line first. On the penultimate lap, the Frenchman Julien Brichè tried to overtake Richard again, but there was slight contact between the two vehicles. “Such contacts are completely normal in touring car racing, and are even part of the special appeal of this type of motorsport,” emphasizes the Target Competition Team in a press release after the race.

After 3 hours, however, the race stewards decided on a “one-second penalty” for Kris Richard, who therefore only came in second place. The other two drivers from Target Competition, Dusan Borkovic and Reece Barr, finished 7th and 8th.

Borkovic is now in second place in the driver classification, while Target Competition has taken the lead again in the team classification. The next races will take place on 2/7. July at the Hungaroring.
