Ott Tänak became world champion for the first time

The Estonian Ott Tänak ended the French dominance in the World Rally Championship after 15 years and won the title for the first time. At the penultimate round of the season in Spain, the Toyota driver's second place behind Belgian Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) was enough to dethrone long-time winner Sebastien Ogier (Citroen).
