The start of the new TCR Europe season was successful

Qualification on Saturday went excellently, with all five drivers reaching Q2. Mato Homala secured pole, Swede Andreas Bäckman came second despite badly damaging his Hyundai i1N in Q30. Josh Files finished fourth, Jessica Bäckman started from seventh, two places ahead of Dusan Borkovic, who finished ninth.

In the first race on Sunday, Target's top drivers were able to capitalize on the benefits of successful qualifying. Homola drove to an unchallenged start-finish victory. After a furious start, Files improved by two positions, then had to defend himself several times and finished the race in second place. Borkovic ended up in fifth place, improving by four places. Siblings Jessica and Andreas Bäckman finished the race in 10th and 11th place, respectively.

Defect throws a spanner in the works A few minutes before the second race it started to rain and that made the race a lottery. A victory was not possible, but with fourth place for Dusan Borkovic, Target narrowly missed a podium. Josh Files was unlucky: a defect was discovered in his Hyundai on the starting grid, which was able to be repaired, but the Brit then had to start from the pit lane. With a hussar ride he managed to catch up wildly and finished in eighth place. Mato Homola came eleventh, Andreas Bäckmann 14th and his sister Jessica finished the race in 15th place.

The next race weekend will take place at the Hockenheimring from May 24th to 26th.

The start of the new TCR Europe season was successful

The South Tyrolean Target Competition Team started the new TCR Europe season at the Hungaroring with five drivers, including last year's runner-up Dusan Borkovic.
