Claudia doesn't see black

At 22, Claudia Schwarz has already been in action for several seasons in the regional championship, the Tri-Veneto championship and the Italian championship. But why does a girl actually choose motocross? "It runs in the family. My father drove and still drives. “Also my two brothers, Alexander and Andreas, who have now switched to downhill mountain biking,” explains Claudia. Full-time job The blonde works full-time in her parents' business and goes to training (at the Safety Park or in Pietramurata) or to races on the weekends - especially in spring and autumn. “During the week there are endurance runs, cycling and strength training,” Claudia is never bored. “It's often difficult, but I like it. As long as I enjoy motocross, I will continue,” says the cheerful Frangarter. She finds balance on a mountain hike with friends. The friend is there Since Claudia's boyfriend (Mathias Pfattner, himself an active motocrosser) is always there, motorsport life is even more fun. “We are traveling in the camper, Mathias gives me tips and takes care of my motorcycle,” says Claudia. Her racing machine, a Husqvarna 125, costs around 8000 euros: “Since there are always repairs to be done, it becomes quite expensive. Luckily, my family and the Meran Motoclub support me, to whom I am very grateful.” A safe driver Schwarz describes the fascination of motocross as follows: “The fight between woman against woman or man against man is simply exciting. I would describe myself as a safe driver and never take excessive risks. Of course, a fall can happen. After a race that lasts 20 minutes plus two laps, you're done. I can feel my thighs, arms and back.” Claudia is helped by the fact that she did a lot of aerial acrobatics as a child – this promotes coordination. Levels in Italy are getting higher and higher The standard in Italy is getting higher and higher. The best in the scene are professionals. Also with the women, such as the multiple world champion Chiara Fontanesi. “She has an extremely high level. It would certainly be a great incentive to take part in a World Cup race. “Best in Pietramurata near Arco, my favorite route,” says Schwarz. Apart from a torn cruciate ligament, she was spared any serious injuries during motocross. “The physical strain is similar to skiing. It’s not for nothing that Marcel Hirscher used to do motocross and Luca de Aliprandini still does motocross for training purposes today,” says Schwarz. A 4th place in a run at the Italian Championships was Claudia's greatest success to date: "I'm usually placed 15th to 20th. At the Erzbergrodeo I once came ninth among the women." But the main thing is that the fun factor is never lost. There will also be a vacation this year, it's going to Switzerland. Claudia is enthusiastic about her hobby and that's probably why she never sees black.

South Tyrol's female motocross riders can be counted on the fingers of two hands. With Magdalena Unterthiner (currently out of action with a broken thigh) and Eva Maria Gatscher (switched to mountain biking), two aces are missing from the scene.
