Mixed weekend in Monza

Qualifying on Saturday was mixed for the team's 3 drivers. While Nicola Baldan was able to secure an excellent second place on the starting grid, Josh Files, who still has a chance of winning the title as second overall, couldn't get past 2th place. Felice Jelmini suffered even worse. A few minutes before the end of qualifying he was on his fastest lap, which would have meant pole position, but the red flag destroyed this chance. He ultimately only ended up in P2.

The race also didn't go according to the team from Andrian's expectations. In rainy conditions, Baldan got off to an excellent start, immediately overtook pole setter John Filippi (Cupra Leon) and increased his lead lap after lap. Until a safety car phase, after which he couldn't really get going, lost a few places and finished fourth. Josh Files and Felice Jelmini showed fighting strength, both made up several places and finished the race in fifth and 10th place respectively.

Nicola Baldan had a dream start in the second race on Sunday. Starting from P2, he moved up to 9rd place after just a few corners, a position he would keep until the end of the race. After crossing the finish line, however, the race management penalized him with a 3 second penalty for taking a shortcut on a chicane, which dropped him to 5th place.

Josh Files, who started from P11, also gained a few places, but his opponent in the fight for the title, Nestor Girolami (Audi RS3 LMS), was able to move to the front of the field. Felice Jelmini drove a great race, moving from P16 to P6 , a technical defect ended his race to catch up. After Nestor Girolami from Argentina won the race, he was now also the winner of the TCR Europe Championship. For Target Competition and Josh Files it is now a matter of securing second place in the overall ranking on the last race weekend in Barcelona in mid-October.

Mixed weekend in Monza

The South Tyrolean team Target Competition traveled to Monza for the penultimate two races of TCR Europe. In the end, however, the team from South Tyrol fell short of their own expectations.
