Misano: Two South Tyroleans involved in mass crash

For the South Tyrolean drivers Peter Gross and Paolo Perucatti from Team ST there was only a single qualifying run in the Trofeo Amatori 600 Base, as the first race took place on Saturday. Gross on a Yamaha was able to set his personal best time in qualifying and ended up in 14th place on the grid. Ducati driver Perucatti set the 34th time.

In the Dunlop Cup Class 1.000, Harald Lantschner (Team ST) started qualifying on a Kawasaki and Peter Ennemoser (Team ST) on a Suzuki. Lantschner took seventh place on the grid, while Ennemoser, still battered by crashes and injuries, still has to find his old form in 24th place.

David Vieider (Team ST) in the Pirelli Cup Class 1.000 on a Kawasaki was able to achieve 13th time in the “Superpole”. This time Ilena Fäckl (Team ST) was unable to compete for personal reasons and had to forego the start.

Shortly after qualifying on Saturday, the drivers in the Trofeo Amatori 600 Base went straight into the first race. But Saturday was a black day for the two South Tyroleans: Immediately after the start, Gross had to avoid a fallen rider, drove out into the grass and fell at high speed. The Sarner slipped back onto the road and was hit in the back by another motorcycle. Luckily he wasn't seriously injured. Perucatti was also involved in this accident, but he was no longer able to avoid the fallen riders and fell himself, injuring his shoulder.

On Sunday it started for Harald Lantschner and Peter Ennemoser. Both drove a consistent race and finished in their starting positions (7 and 24).

In the Pirelli Cup Class 1.000, David Vieider got off to a good start, but on the fifth lap the motorcycle brutally threw Steinegger off. The machine was badly damaged and Vieider also injured his hand.

The last race for Team ST was the Trofeo Amatori 600 Base. Perucatti had to miss a start because of Saturday's crash. Gross started despite severe pain, but after a few laps he had to take his foot off the gas and ended up 30th.

Josef Giuliani (Team ST) from Eppan also competed in a race on the Pentecost weekend; he was in Vallelunga and came third in the Superbike92 category.
