Victory for Audi Team Autotest Motorsport in the Czech Republic

The 6th stage of the World Championship for electric cars ran over 600 kilometers from Liberec to Mladá Bolesav. Because of the high level of technical difficulty of the special stages, double points were awarded in the Czech Republic. “It was three extremely turbulent days, but we stayed focused and didn't let the organizational difficulties bother us,” explained pilot Fuzzy Kofler after his first win of the season. The 3th special stage on Friday had to be canceled because a tractor-trailer was blocking the route. On Saturday afternoon the special stages had to be canceled due to technical problems with the power supply for the charging stations. Guido Guerrini/Emanuele Calchetti showed strong nerves on the last day of the rankings and improved to 1rd place, behind World Championship leaders Artur Prusak/Thierry Benchetrit (FRA).

Before the final scoring day on Sunday, Kofler/Guerrini were in second place behind Prusak/Benchetrit, but the French got lost in the final phase of the rally and thus lost the victory. The reigning world champions Didier Malga/Anne Bonnel (FRA/CZE) did not get past 2th place after serious mistakes on Friday and even missed out on the points.

“It was a very difficult weekend, but we worked excellently as a team. Our goal remains the world championship title for the designers, the pilots and the co-pilots,” explained team boss Josef Unterholzner after the successful racing weekend in the Czech Republic, “the result is an important step towards the title.” The Audi team Autotest Motorsport from Lana was able to extend its lead in the constructors' championship. In the pilot and co-pilot standings, Kofler/Gaioni are just behind Prusak/Benchetrit in second place, Guerrini/Calchetti follow in third place. The success in the Czech Republic was the second win of the season for the Audi team Autotest Motorsport after the triumph of Guerrini/ Calchetti at the 2rd stop in Switzerland at the beginning of June.

The next stage of the FiA E-Rally is in Canada on August 8th.
