Target Competition extends its lead in the championship

The qualification already started successfully for the South Tyrolean team: The Swede Andreas Bäckmann not only took the pole, but also the course record. His sister Jessica Bäckmann surprisingly finished sixth, while Dominik Baumann (Austria), who replaces Dusan Borkovic for the rest of the season, came seventh. Championship leader Josh Files took ninth place on the grid and Mato Homola finished 13th.

In the first race on Saturday, Andreas Bäckmann didn't get off to the best start, but with two laps to go he was able to hold his own after a courageous overtaking maneuver and cross the finish line first. But after the race the shock came for Bäckmann: During the technical inspection after the race it was discovered that his vehicle was 1mm too wide at the front. This meant the loss of the victory and disqualification. Josh Files fought his way to third place and secured valuable points for the championship. Dominik Baumann achieved a remarkable fourth place for the team in the first race. Mato Homola also made up places and ended up in sixth place. Jessica Bäckmann, on the other hand, is slowly becoming the unlucky person of the season because she was eliminated again after an accident through no fault of her own.

In the second race on Sunday, four out of five drivers from the Target racing team finished in the top ten. The fastest from the South Tyrolean team were again Files and Baumann in third and fourth place. Jessica and Andreas Bäckmann came in sixth and ninth respectively.

Files leads the overall standings Josh Files continues to lead the drivers' standings with 254 points. Second place, Luca Engstler, currently has 176 points, while Julien Briché in third place has 166 points. Mato Homola is in fourth place with 162 points.

Target Competition (583 points) also leads the team rankings with a comfortable lead of 259 points.

The next races will take place in Barcelona on September 21st and 22nd.

Target Competition extends its lead in the championship

At the weekend, races nine and ten of the season took place in Ochersleben (Germany) as part of the TCR Europe racing series. The South Tyrolean team Target Competition took part with its five Hyundai N i30 TCRs and drivers from four nations.
