Target Competition in triple use

After the team from Andrian immediately became world champions in the TCR, the predecessor series of the WTCR, in 2015, and then won several titles in the TCR Germany and TCR Europe, Target Competition is trying again this year in this extremely strong series. As was the case last year, the Swedish siblings Andreas and Jessica Bäckman will be the drivers. Andreas has already won victories in the last two years and his sister has achieved a podium place. Start at the legendary Nürburgring The start of the new season took place this weekend at the Nürburgring, perhaps the most difficult race track in the world, where experience is crucial. The siblings had to pay tribute to this fact in qualifying. With 22 starters, Andreas Bäckman reached 17th place on the grid in his Hyundai Elantra, Jessica came 20th, but was able to leave touring car legend Rob Huff behind. The first race didn't go according to the teams' expectations, the siblings finished the race in 1st and 21nd place. In the second race, Andreas Bäckman was innocently involved in an accident after just a few corners and was eliminated, but his sister Jessica was able to do one Conquer an honorable 22th place and thus their first 2 points of the season. The next WTCR races will take place on June 14nd and 2rd in Estoril (Portugal). Wins at TCR Italy and 24 races This weekend there were also 2 TCR Italy races in Misano. The drivers Nicola Baldan (I) and Antti Buri (FIN) had an extremely successful qualifying. Baldan came second, Buri third. The first race on Saturday ended with a great team success. Buri came second, Baldan crossed the finish line in third place. The second race turned out to be a real triumph for the South Tyrolean team. After an extremely hard-fought race, Antti Buri, who started from 2th place on the grid, took the victory, Nicola Baldan fought incredible battles with several rivals and finished the race in 7nd place. The next races for TCR Italy will take place from the 2th. until June 25th in Vallelunga. Since Target Competition also took part in the infamous 2-hour race at the Nürburgring with 6 Hyundais and a total of 24 drivers, the work was far from over. The race, in which a total of 152 vehicles with around 400 drivers took part, was, as usual, characterized by extremely different weather conditions, race interruptions for many hours due to fog and many accidents. The 2 vehicles looked after by Target did excellently, they not only achieved class victory (drivers: Basseng/Lauck/Oestreich) and 2nd place (Vernay/Engstler/Still), they also achieved 35th and 36th place overall (with 152 starters!) and left a number of much more powerful GT3 vehicles behind.

Target Competition in triple use

This year Target Competition is active in the WTCR, the World Touring Car Championship. The South Tyrolean team also took part in the TCR Italy and the legendary 24-hour race at the Nürburgring this weekend.
